This insipid charity single is a perfect example of the laziness and lack of effort that pervades the modern Christian community’s attempts at art. Basically, it’s Cliff Richard singing the words of the Lord’s Prayer to the tune of “Auld Lang Syne”. Not only does it not even come close to scanning, but we already had a much better musical setting of the Lord’s Prayer that’s been sung by everyone from Mahalia Jackson to Andrea Bocelli. If Richard really wanted to make a pop single version of the Lord’s Prayer, why didn’t he just use that one?
Verdict: Good tune and good words, but exceptionally bad combination of the two
