“Tryin’ to Get the Feeling Again” by Barry Manilow

This song was obviously meant to be about the spark of passion in a relationship dying, but if someone has even the faintest hint of a dirty mind (and most of us do), it will occur to them that the lyrics sound to an uncanny degree like they could be about…something else. (If you’ve heard the song, you probably already know what I’m talking about; if not, let’s just say it’s an unintentional double-entendre, and leave it at that.) This factor, combined with the fact that it’s one of Manilow’s schmaltzier songs to begin with, makes this song exceptionally easy to make fun of, but unlike “I Write the Song”, the lyric problems don’t really make it any less enjoyable, and there’s no denying that it features one of Manilow’s most memorable melodies.

Verdict: Cheesy and kind of ridiculous, but not really bad, and certainly enjoyable.
